Kenneth Mercken, born in 1976, was a national amateur cycling champion in 2000. On his way to becoming a pro cyclist, he decided to turn his back on his boyhood dream and enrolled in a film school. In 2011, he graduates from the Brussels Film Academy RITCS with The Letter, a short film based on his cycling experiences. It wins him the VAF Wildcard with which he made his second short Feel Sad for the Bunny.
In 2012 and 2013 he participated in the Binger Writer’s lab and the Script & Pitch programme of the TorinoFilmLab to develop his debut fiction feature Coureur. The project was selected at the Les Arcs coproduction platform in 2014 and won the Emerging Talent Award at When East Meets West at the Trieste Film Festival. He’s currently in post-production of Coureur, produced by CZAR Film.
